Key Bodies of the Strategic Planning Process

The key bodies that are responsible for leading and carrying out the Strategic Planning Process include EHRN Steering Committee, EHRN Strategy Working Group, EHRN Secretariat, and an independent group of consultants.

Key Bodies of the Evaluation and Strategic Planning Process:

The EHRN Strategy Working Group (SWG) is a new working group that is responsible for overseeing and guiding the work to evaluate EHRN’s past performance under the current strategy (2010-2014) and to develop and deliver a strategic planning process for the new 5-year strategy (2015-2019). The SWG was established by, and reports to, the EHRN Steering Committee (SC), to whom it provides advice and will present draft reports and the draft strategic plan for review and approval.

The EHRN Steering Committee (SC) is a governing body of EHRN that is elected by EHRN members. Its responsibility is to facilitate the implementation of EHRN's mission by developing and implementing policies, strategies and operational principles. The Steering Committee is formed of elected representatives from all seven of EHRN’s sub-regions and from the community of people who use drugs, all of whom are elected for three years and serve voluntarily.

The EHRN Secretariat is the executive body of EHRN and its major function is to implement the Network's Strategic Plan under the guidance of the Steering Committee. The Secretariat provides organizational and logistical support to the SC and SWG in the process of the evaluation and strategic planning process.

An independent group of consultants provides conceptual, methodological, analytical and writing support to the SWG in the course of the EHRN evaluation and new Strategic Plan development. Through an open and competetive process EHRN SWG and SC selected the Focus Group to carry out the independent evaluation and strategic planning process for EHRN.
